Just a quick note that the swim runs being held on the 23rd and 30th of December this year will be unofficial ones – as in no clock and no bbq.

Swim /runs will return to usual on the following Friday – the 6th Jan.

Coming up on the 7th Feb 2012 is our annual fundraising night at the Greyhound races in Lismore. As always, this is a good fun night with great raffles, the dog races and of course the athletes against greyhound race! Tickets are free to Ballina Triathlon members prior to the night, otherwise they are $5 at the gate. Tickets will be available at the swim/runs on a Friday night.

Just to let you all know that if anyone wants to order a club kit and or gear, you can do so through Sunrise Cycles in Ballina – see Craig or one of his helpful team. Orders need to be paid at time of ordering with cash – no eftpos facility for kit orders. Next order will be placed at the end of January. This year we are holding our 12th Annual Andy Frame Memorial 5K Run which is a slight variation in our regular friday evening swim/run format. There will be NO Swim Leg tomorrow night, but feel free to have a dip to cool down afterwards!

Here is the detail for tonight:

WHAT IS IT?  Its a 5 K Run!

WHEN IS IT? FRIDAY 11th November 2011

WHERE IS IT? At our regular beautiful Shaws Bay East Ballina Swim/Run location

TIMING FORMAT: You get out there and do your best. We will have spot prizes for those who run closest to our randomly drawn run times! so it doesent matter if you are first or last, just get out there and have fun and the random time draw may find you!

HOW MUCH IS ENTRY: Entry is $5 for Adults and $2 for U/18′s – with a fundraising effort going towards a donation to the Heart Foundation in memory of Andy!

WHAT TIME?: Rego from 5:30, Run starts at 6:00pm sharp!

There will be BBQ & Cold drinks available for purchase afterwards, as well as our random prize draw with an amazing selection of items to give away!

Look forward to seeing you out there on the course and for a chat & drink afterwards!

Well the first race of the season kicked off to a Pink start last Sunday – supporting the Jane McGrath Foundation. There was great turnout with some very pink and wonderfully costumed competitors and spectators. This coupled with great weather made for good fun racing.  A huge thank you must go to the wonderful businesses that donated such great prizes for our random draw, raffle and best dressed competitors – this allowed us to reward many of you on the day.  Without this support from the businesses we wouldn’t be able to have such good prizes. Our thanks goes to (and in no particular order), Barbara-Anne Wyatt-Peters, Heart of the Home in Bangalow, Sunrise Cycles, Lennox Head Aquatic Centre, Harvest Cafe @ Newrybar, Riley Burnett, Inner Beauty  @ Lennox Head, Red Ginger @ Bangalow, The Deck @ Byron, Fruitos, Alstonville Holistic Fitness, Hackett Tree Services, Blu-2-Blitz Electrical and Sharpe Projects.

Also a big thank you to all the people assisting behind the scenes, from either setting up, packing up, cooking, food prep, organising, being a drink attendant, marshall and/or general go-fore  person – it is all very much appreciated and shows what a great community club we have.

You will find some happy snaps from the day on our website, kindly taken by Luisa, who unfortunately couldn’t compete on the day as she hurt herself prior to the start. For anyone wondering Luisa is doing great now compared to Sunday and is hoping to still be able to compete this weekend at Noosa triathlon. We wish her well with a speedy recovery.

Hi everyone, the first swim/run of the 2011 – 2012 season will be Friday 14th October at Shaws Bay. Registration open from 5:15pm for a 6pm start. $4 adults and $2 children. Random draw prizes also.
